About White
Timothy (TJ) White is a retired U.S. Navy Vice Admiral and former Commander of the United States Fleet Cyber Command/United States Tenth Fleet/United States Navy Space Command, which is responsible for the Navy’s information network operations, offensive and defensive cyber operations, space operations and signals intelligence. In this role, Admiral White led 16,000 active and reserve sailors and civilians organized into 27 active commands, 40 Cyber Mission Force units, and 27 reserve commands around the world.
Admiral White also previously served as Commander of the United States Cyber National Mission Force/USCYBERCOM, which is the U.S. military’s joint cyber force based in Fort Meade, Maryland charged with defending the Nation in cyberspace through full-spectrum operations to deter, disrupt, and, if necessary, defeat adversary cyber and malign influence actors
A former CINCPACFLT Shiphandler-of-the-Year, White was originally a surface warfare officer serving aboard USS Missouri (BB-63) as electronic warfare officer, combat information center officer, and assistant operations officer. He was selected for re-designation as a cryptologist, now cryptologic warfare officer, in 1992 and was assigned to the Operations Directorate at the National Security Agency, Fort Meade, Maryland.
His operational fleet tours include assignments as assistant cryptologist, Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/U.S. 5th Fleet in Manama, Bahrain, and assistant chief of staff for Information Operations, N39, Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet embarked aboard USS Blue Ridge, home-ported in Yokosuka, Japan.
White has served on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations as the Joint Military Intelligence Program and Tactical Intelligence and Related Activities (now Military Intelligence Program) program resources director, as the deputy director of intelligence and chief of staff, Joint Functional Component Command–Network Warfare, U.S. Strategic Command, and as the director, Commander’s Action Group at U.S. Cyber Command. He is a former Director of Intelligence for United States Indo-Pacific Command and has served globally in various combat zones and conflict areas supporting competition dynamics.
Admiral White graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He also earned a Master of Science in Systems Technology (Command, Control and Communications) from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University–Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He is also a Massachusetts Institute of Technology Seminar XXI fellow.
